As winners, Toubabo FC were awarded a cash price of ten thousand dalasis with a trophy, while runners-up Golden 4security went home with six thousands dalasis.
The tournament which attracted a lot of football lovers was organized by the Wellingara Youth Development Association, and supported by the participating teams.
The trophy was donated by Dr. Kenneth Jackson. Certificates were also awarded to various coaches, including the man behind the event, Dr. Jackson.
Speaking at the finals, Dr. Jackson the lead sponsor of the Wellingara football field, expressed appreciation being associated with youth activities which are geared toward promoting their advancement. Through sports, youths will be able to have the opportunity to expose their potentials and have skills development which can earn them a decent living, he said.
He announced that it is part of his agenda to give support to the youths to upgrade themselves, especially through sports.
He added that it is through sports that many youth have develop themselves, and that sportspeople are needed everywhere in this world due to their skill.
“I am very much excited to give support to the Wellingara youths in particular”, he said, while promising more support to upgrade the football field into a multipurpose mini-stadium.
He also revealed that more than four hundred and fifty thousand dalasis had been spent on the construction of the fence of the Wellingara football field.
Dr. Jackson went on to commend the Wellingara community for giving youths the support needed.
Momodou Lamin Bah, director of Brokers, expressed similar sentiments, adding that he was pleased to see young people coming together and demonstrating discipline.
He challenged the youths, especially the footballers, to maintain discipline in their football career and show more commitment and focus as football is very important now.
Karapha Jobarteh, chairman Wellingara Youth Development Association, commended Dr. Jackson for his effort in developing the Wellingara football field, and he also challenged youths to redouble their efforts and maintain discipline to achieve their goals.
