Today: Sang Ndong to reveal squad for AFCON Qualifiers with Mauritania

Sang Ndong, the head coach of the Gambia national team, is set to unveil his squad for the decisive 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers away to Mauritania on Friday 25 March 2016.

The unveiling takes place today 17 March 2016, at the Gambia Football Federation Secretariat in Kanifing layout.

Coach Sang Ndong is widely tipped to assemble a formidable squad by blending foreign-based players with the local-based players for the crucial clash with the Mauritanians.

The Scorpions are expected to camp in Banjul ahead of their decisive 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mauritania.

The Scorpions will host Mauritania in the return leg in Banjul on Tuesday 29 March 2016, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, before hosting South Africa in June 2016, at the same venue in Banjul.

The Scorpions will play away to Cameroon in their final qualifiers match in September 2016, in Yaoundé.

Cameroon are currently leading group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with maximum 6 points in two outing after they defeated Mauritania and The Gambia 1-0each in their opening two qualifiers matches.

Mauritania are second spot in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following their stunning 3-1 home win over South Africa, after losing to Cameroon 1-0 in their opening qualifiers match in Yaoundé in September 2015.

The Gambia and South Africa are second place from bottom and bottom place in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with 1 point in two matches after their goalless draw in their opening qualifiers match in June 2015, before losing to Cameroon and Mauritania in September 2017.
