Tight Contest in Female League

May 28, 2009, 10:04 AM | Article By: Sainabou Kujabi

The 2008/09 Gambia Football Association female league currently in session has featured a demonstration of equal contenders.

Interior are so far leading with a tiny margin of three points ahead of Company Ten and six ahead of Abuko United in four fixtures.

Division one leaders will be faced with a tough fixture against formidable Abuko United who mauled Makasutu 8-0 last weekend.

Having secured third spot, Abuko United still has a match in Hand with Red Scorpions and could be the most solid side to challenge Interior if they manage to win the unbeatable Interior on Friday.

Red Scorpion is also expected to feast against winnowing Makasuku on Saturday on Saturday to climb up the ladder. A victory will earn the six points and if they play another win on Abuko United they will be part of the race for the title.

Kinteh's is second from bottom after Makasutu at three points. They will meet Company Ten on Sunday.

Despite losing to the City Girls over the week, Jam City is so far leading the second division outfit with 9 points.  They have already played their four matches in the first round and are now faced with a cumbersome challenge for the race as nearest contenders Armed Forces and the City all on six points with another match to play are in for the race of the title.

Jeshwang United and Future Bi are languishing at the botom of the table after securing one point each from a goaless draw held by both sides in week two fixtures.

A tough battle awaits both sides when Jeshwang United entertains Armed Forces while Future takes on the City Girls. Both sides should avoid defeat and count on wins in their second round matches to gain a spot in the first division.
