Three volleyball players to sign in Senegal

Three national volleyball players yesterday left The Gambia for St Louis, Senegal to sign a contract deal with the University of St. Louis.

The volleyball players: Sanu Secka, a point spiker, Alieu Njie also a point spiker and Muhammed Jallow, a setter were accompanied by the President of the Gambia Volleyball Association, Musa Casa Taal, who facilitated the contract.

According to Casa Taal, the players' talents were spotted in a recent tournament, meant for sub-regional integration through sports held in Ziguinchorr.

Casa Taal promised to give the contract details involving the three Gambian exports upon his return.

Speaking to Sanu Secka and Alieu Njie before their departure, both of them commended the President of the Gambia Volleyball Association for facilitating the contract.

In another development, the Gambia Volleyball Association will organise a Volleyball Gala on Saturday 6th February 2010 for schools within the Kanifing Municipality Council (KMC), at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

The programme is being organised by the Gambia Volleyball Association, in partnership with the National Sports Council and Olym-africa, in which 20 schools are expected to take part.

The aim of the gala is to set up a structure for the U-15 and U-18 players, who will be scouted during the event by Cuban volleyball coaches currently on technical assistance in the country for the future of Gambian volleyball.

Meanwhile, the Gambia Volleyball Association is calling on all interested clubs to come and register for the 2010 National Volleyball League.
