Despite recording an unbeaten record of three matches, an unsatisfied Djurgårdens settled for a 0-0 draw against Gefle on Sunday in the Swedish Allsvenkans.
Efforts of Gambian duo Kebba Ceesay and Pa Dembo Touray, together with their teammates, who led an aggressive Djurgårdens that took over the match, were not enough to walk home with all three points needed by the former Swedish champions to boost up their slow start to the league.
Djurgårdens came to the game with two victories on their record and had their best chance of the game in the second half when Kasper Hämäläinen and Kebba Ceesay each had a heavy shot from outside Gefle defence, which went away from the goal.
Djurgårdens now got just only five points in eight matches and are at 14th on the table. They are faced with the challenge of picking on leading Helsingborg, who are up on 17 points.
Team manager Magnus Pehrsson after the game told club's website that "the match die for us". "We had a small advantage at Gefle, but instead we focused our attention on saving the point."
Omar Jawo's Syrianska lost 1-0 away to GAIS leaving them one place behind Djurgårdens with only five points on Sunday.
