Modou Njie, Ismaila Bah and Sulayman Jallow were recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court charged with burglary.
The first and second accused persons denied the charge and their case was adjourned till 9 January 2012.
However, the third accused accepted the charge and was convicted and sentenced to a mandatory jail term of one year six months.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons, on 16 December 2011, at Banjul Garage, in Serrekunda, in the Kanifing Municipality, broke into the shop of the complainant with intent to commit a felony and therein stole the following items: five laptops each valued at D3, 000, four flat screen desktops each valued at D2, 000 and one musical system marked OVA valued at D400.
