Alh Rilwan Lowe Tuesday testified as the first prosecution witness (PW1) in a single count of threatening violence involving one Badara Lowe at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Dago.
Mr Lowe told the court that he is a retired civil servant and that he recognised the accused person.
He recalled 12 January 2013, between the hours of 2 and 3pm when he had a phone call from his second wife, Sainabou Lowe, asking him to run or hide.
Mr Lowe said he asked her why and she informed him that the accused went to her house in an angry mood asking about him, adding that he called his younger sister, Saffie Lowe SNR, to inform her, who also confirmed the information that the accused was in possession of a knife.
He explained that his daughter, Saffie Lowe JNR, called the accused on his phone, asking him to come to his house for discussion, but the accused said he would go to his (the witness) house at Bakau.
He added that Saffie Lowe JRN then called his other daughter to go to Kairaba Police Station to call the police, adding that one of his grandsons gripped the accused to deny him entering the house.
The police came and took the accused person to the station where his statement was obtained.
Hearing was adjourned till 21 January 2013.
Meanwhile, the accused was remanded in custody pending the adjournment date.
