The Gambia remains one of the most peaceful countries in the world, and that is why the country is referred to as the Smiling Coast of Africa.

The Gambia is also seen as a haven of peace and a beacon of hope for humanity, thanks to the peace and stability we enjoy.

Infact, it is unfair for the international media to associate the peaceful Gambia with people who allegedly have a connection with al-Qaeda.

The Jamaican cleric, Abdullah Al- Faisal, has never touched down on Gambian soil - why then the report that he was received by the country.

This is a country which is synonymous with peace, and her citizens are known to be peaceful in nature and law-abiding.

It is good that the government has set the record straight with the press release issued, and rubbished the deportation report.

Earlier, the acting Director of Immigration described the report as false and misleading and that it was aimed at tarnishing the image of the country.

Indeed, People in the Gambia are peace-loving and practice the true teachings of Islam and Christianity.

"I wanted to avoid violence. Non-violence is the first article of my faith. It is also the last article of my creed."
