Tallinding United were Monday held to a 1-1 draw by Banjul United in the Week 9 encounter of the GFA Second Division League game played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Tallinding United took the lead through skipper Haruna Jabang in the 36th minute of the game from a penalty spot when a Banjul United player handled the ball inside the area.
Yusupha Drammeh levelled the score for Banjul United in the 66th minute. Tallinding United have now collected 10 points in 9 encounters, while Banjul United have bagged 9 0070oints in 9 games.
Alagie Nyassi, head coach of Tallinding United, said it was not a difficult game for them, adding that the game was so easy for them in the first half and could have scored 3 goals but that his players were “careless”.
“We (the players) were not taking the game seriously and that cost us the three points,” he stated. “Our performance in the first round was very bad, collecting 10 points out of 9 games is very bad,” he added.
“It was a very poor campaign in the first round,” Nyassi said further, adding: “We had a lot of test games before the beginning of the league and were undefeated in all test games but when the league started, most of the players that were performing well during the pre-season and test games did not live up to expectations.
“Fortunately if the teams that are in front of us performed badly their might be chanced for us making it to the first division league.”
They just have to be patient and work hard and try to do better in the second round, he said.
