Social Protection training ends

A three-day training on social protection ended yesterday at the National Malaria Control Programme hall in Kanifing.

The forum was organised by Ageing with Smile Initiative (ASI) and funded by Africa Platform for Social Protection.

Speaking at the ceremony, Balla Musa Joof, secretary general of ASI, said the training was held to equip participants with understanding the key concepts and instruments of social protection to engage in country specific social protection programmes and policy processes.

Mr Joof said promoting the sharing of experience by stakeholders on social protection work would foster partnership and networking among stakeholders and enhance coordination of activities related to social protection platform that will engage with government and development partners to take the agenda of social protection forward.

For her part, Fanta Bai Secka, Director of Social welfare, said the training was timely as social protection so that the participants can play a vital role.

Madam Secka assured them of government support and also urged the participants to perfectly use the knowledge gained from the training.
