Suspected lunatic nabbed for alleged murder

Reports reaching this paper have confirmed that one Ansu Gagigo, a 32-year-old man from Bulali village in the West Coast Region, believed to be mentally imbalanced, is alleged to have murdered one Masireh Colley of Killy village also in the West Coast Region.

According to our source, the suspect met the victim at his cashew farm working and chopped him with a machete on his head and, as a result, the victim fell on the ground. Our source said the suspect continued chopping his hands, as he tried to protect himself from the assault.

Our sources further added that the children rushed to inform the mother of the victim at the far end of the farm, who later shouted for help and the villagers rushed to the scene only to find the suspect's shirt stained with blood.

The matter, the sources revealed, was reported to Sibanor Police Station and the suspect was arrested and taken to the station, where he is currently helping the police in their investigation, while the deceased was taken to Bwiam Hospital and later transferred to the RVTH in Banjul.

When contacted the Police public relation officer, ASP Yerro Mballow, confirmed the story, adding that the suspect is said to be a lunatic.

PRO Mballow confirmed that the suspect had since been arrested.
