The need to support and to care for each other, especially during this holy month of Ramadan is very essential.
We were told that helping to provide a meal for someone to break his or her fast attracts a huge reward from Allah.
We, therefore, encourage all and sundry, especially those who are well off to consider assisting the less privileged, during this holy month.
The poor and the needy would greatly appreciate food items such as rice, sugar, bread, oil very well in this month, thus the need to help them with such basic needs.
We would at this juncture recognise the efforts of certain individuals and organisations which have made this year’s fasting easy for many needy persons in the country so far brought to our notice.
They include Cemiyatul Hayre and IGMG Hasene and Noor Aid as well as Gambian philantrophist Momodou Turo Darboe.
We encourage all who have the means including the businesspeople to emulate these and others who have been supportive to the needy, either privately or publicly.
It is not late for anyone who has the means; you can still help the needy with food and non food items, and have the blessing of Allah.
Widows and orphans, as well as the disabled are very much in need, and they need to be supported by Islamic and humanitarian organisations and philanthropists.
We must take advantage of this holy month by doing more good, so as to be rewarded very well by Allah.
