Sukuta will tomorrow rub shoulders with Lamin in the final of the ongoing Gambia Football Association (GFA) Super Nawetan, fondly called the zonal championship, at the country’s biggest football arena the Independence Stadium.
Sukuta won the championship once again in 2005 after beating Serrekunda West 2-1in the final to clinch their first zonal title and they perfected it to the 2011 zonal championship with victories against Serrekunda West, Brikama and Lamin before losing to Barra Essau Mayamba combination in their final group game but finished top spot in group B with 9 points in three outings.
Sukuta advanced to the final following their 4-3 post-match penalty shootout win over debutant Manjai in the semifinal, after the regulation time.
Lamin, on the other hand, won the championship back in 2002 following their post-match penalty shootout victory over Serrekunda East in the final, after a goalless in the normal time.
Lamin finished runners-up in group B as they won Serrekunda West, drew with Barra Essau Mayamba and Brikama and lost to Sukuta, which earned them a place in the semifinal.
Lamin therefore progressed to the final after beating City boys Banjul 2-1 in the semifinal.
