Liberia U-20 team will welcome The Gambia U-20 in the first leg of the preliminaries of the 2015 African U-20 Youth Championship on Sunday 6 April 2014, at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.
Sunday’s meeting will be the first between Liberia and The Gambia in the Africa U-20 Youth Championship since the inception of the championship in the 90s.
Liberia U-20 are highly hopeful of winning the game against The Gambia come Sunday, to boost their chances of qualifying for the next round of the qualifiers as well as to fancy their chances of qualifying for their first-ever Africa U-20 Youth Championship.
The Gambia U-20 qualified for the Africa U-20 Youth Championship twice in 2007 in Congo Brazzaville, where they took a bronze medal, and for the 2011 Africa U-20 Youth championship hosted in South Africa but were eliminated at the group stage.
The Gambia U-20 will also be fighting for a positive result in Monrovia on Sunday to keep hopes of qualifying for the 2015 Africa U-20 Youth Championship to be hosted in Senegal, after they failed to qualify for the 2013 edition.
