The Bakau giant killers are preparing for the continent top tier football club competition - the 2014 CAF champions league - set to kick-start in January 2014 and this will be their first appearance in the CAF elite football club competition after winning the country’s premier league title last season in grand style.
The 2014 edition will be their first appearance in CAF champions league since the inception of the Bakau-based club back in 1978 and are embarking on intensive preparation for the championship.
The telecommunications giants are bracing up for the CAF Confederation cup after clinching the FA Cup title for the fourth consecutive time in a row following their penalty shootout win over hotel boys Seaview, after a 1-1 draw in the regulation time in a tightly contested final game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau last season.
2014 CAF Confederation Cup will be Gamtel’s third appearance in the championship since making their debut in the championship two seasons ago but were eliminated in the preliminary round of the competition by Malian side AS Real de Bamako and CS Faxien of Tunisia in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
