Habib Tamba, the manager of the Kololi branch of St. Mary’s Food and Wine, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate F.L. Drammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with two counts of stealing by clerk or servant.
Tamba, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was subsequently granted bail of D500,000 with two Gambian sureties, who must depose to an affidavit of means and must also deposit their ID cards.
The charged sheet on count one revealed that, the accused person, Habib Tamba, between 2006 and 2009, in Kololi in the Kanifing Municipality, whilst working as a manager in the Kololi branch of St. Mary’s Food and Wine, misappropriated the sum of D2, 036,084.65 which came into his possession on account of him being an employee for the aforesaid employer.
The particulars of the offence on count two alleged that the accused in the same time and place whilst working as a manager in the Kololi branch of St. Mary’s Food and Wine, misappropriated D18, 820 which was given to him as scratch cards to sell.
The case was adjourned till 19th April 2011.
