Sports jamboree in Gunjur

Abubacarr Sidique Foundation for Orphans and Needy Welfare and British philanthropist Birby recently organised a day-long Sports Jamboree for the foundation’s sponsored orphans, at the Gunjur Upper Basic School playground.

The sports jamboree brought together orphans in Gunjur and its environs as well as participants from different sports disciplines such as football, athletics, tug of war and other events.

Four houses, namely Hatab Bojang, Kebba Touray, Bunjeng and Foday Sillah, took part in the championship.

Kebba Touray clinched the athletics championship title after securing 120 points, followed by Hatab Bojang with 95 points.

Bunjeng came out 3rd with 70 points and Foday Sillah finished at the bottom of the table with 65 points.

Hatab Bojang were crowned champions of the football tournament after beating Foday Sillah 1-0 in the final played at the Gunjur playground.

At the end of the events, all the orphans who took part in the sports Jamboree were given invaluable learning materials.
