Lamin B. Touray, alias Badibunka, is setting a record in The Gambian music scene and the international arena, as he is on the verge of releasing his debut album that will take him to stardom.
Badibunka, who is originally from Badibu Saaba, joined the Gambian music industry in 1998 and started making waves in the entertainment arena.
In a short period of time, the young artiste decided to abandon the profession for not making much wherewithal from it.
However, the ambitious career pursuer said: “In 2005, I went back to the profession and later joined the Gamcel chart burster where I was dropped but that did not make me to be discouraged in the profession.”
In a chat with Entertainment recently, Badibunka said as an artiste he started singing in Jamaican style but one day his father, who is very impressed with what he is doing, encouraged him to keep the momentum and advised him to adopt his own language and style.
Dilating on his album, the Gambian musical star informed Entertainment that he has been working on the finishing touches to release his album as well as to launch it.
The album, which is to be launched on 28 October 2011 at the Alliance Franco Gambienne, is entitled ‘Jamba Sowry’, which “I name after my village”.
Badibunka added that the launching of the album is expected to be graced with a live band performance as well as by a host of other artistes in the country.
The 12-track album will be in CD format. In the album, he revealed, there is a song called Ning nata, which is about him as an artiste.
The afro-manding super star also said he had never travelled outside The Gambia but had made a lot of tours within the country.
