Serrekunda East Women team made flying start to the 2011 Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Women Festival Football Tournament after beating Banjul Women team 8-0 at the Banjul KG5 Mini-stadium on Wednesday at 3pm.
Star striker Veronic Malak scored four goals, Isa Saidykhan netted a ha-trick and Sareba Colley netted one to give Serrekunda East women team a resounding victory over Banjul women side in their own home soil.
Elsewhere, Serrekunda West women team beat Bakau 2-1 in the other encounter at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium on the same day.
Serrekunda West women’s goals were scored by Yamundow Jeng and Awa Demba in the 9th and 55th minutes of the game respectively.
In previous results, Central River Region North drew 1-1 with North Bank/J, Serrekunda East drew 2-2 with Serrekunda West, West Coast 2 walloped Serrekunda West 7-0, whilst Bakau humiliated Lower River Region 7-1.
