A six-year old boy resident of Kerr Sering village in Kombo North District of Western Region is in dire need of urgent overseas treatment.
He needs assistance from individuals, NGOs, and philanthropists to help him undergo overseas treatment.
Momodou Kuyateh aged, 6 was presented to the paediatric outpatient of the RVTH in August 2009, with recurrent respiratory difficulties, coughing and occasional squatting his medical report stated.
On physical evaluation Momodou had a pale mucosa; he was in respiratory distress with a respiratory rate of 38 per minute and subcostal reaction and an aspiratory rale, according to his medical paper.
It further stated that Momodou's pulse rate was 140 per minute, adding that the first and second heart sounds were present with no murmurs and had a hepatomegaly. Echocardiograph evaluation revealed marked dilatation of the auricle and ventricle with no septal defect or pericardial effusion and the paper stated that Momodou's chest x-ray revealed a severe cardiomegaly with pulmonary infiltration and multiple air bronchograms.
On the basis of the above features his medical paper went on, "a diagnosis of dilated cardiopathy was made with a bronchopneumonia and probably TB, adding that his pulse rate is 128/min, while the other system evaluation were on the basis of the above feature diagnosis of biventricular congestive cardiae failure secondary to dilated cardiomyopathy with other complex structural cardiac defects has been made."
"Momodou needs to proceed on a well-resourced cardiothoracic surgery overseas to undertake a definitive management to circumvent irreversible complications," the medical paper concluded.
