Six team invitational football tourney

The Gambia Football Association in collaboration with the community of Bwaim in Foni Kansala District and FC Utrecht, atop plight team from the Netherlands will organise a six (6) team invitational tournament and community outreach programs from Wednesday 6th to Friday 15th J January, 2010 in Bwaim and Brikama respectively.

Whilst in The Gambia, FC Utrecht in partnership with the community of Bwaim will conduct technical and leadership training programs for the youths from Foni. The training program is aimed toprovide the Gambian youths with maximum development opportunities in football and leadership. The Bwaim community outreach program will help the youths in developing their skills in football; improve their training methods and a specialfootball experienceto grow as a player and a team. The project centered on the theme better football, better life and better community, the Bwaim training focus on the commitment, self esteem, team work, active participation an most importantly how to develop skills to be a leader in football.

Foni Kansala District meeting experts will discuss among others topics theway and means of making football academy financially sustainable, how to involve other members of the community to secure real and a lasting support and how to realise the dream of a mini stadium in the community of Bwaim.

The highlights of the visit of FC Utrech to The Gambia will be the six team invitational tournament to be help at the Box Bar mini-stadium in Brikama between Rufa Academy of  Bwaim and Gilkock Academy of Bakau on Friday January 8, 2010 at  9.00am. Jammeh Academy of Bakau versus FC Utrecht at 10.00 am in Brikama.

Thursday January 14, 2010, Nice Academy of Brikama versus RUFA Academy at 15:00hrs. Brikama Unites will meet Utrecht later at 17:00hrs the same day.

Whilst in The Gambia, FC Utrecht and their host community will pay a courtesy call on the governor, Western Region, alkalo and the council of leaders of Bwaim, members of the National Assembly of Foni, Minister of Youth and Sports and the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor, Alhagie, Doctor Yahya AJJ Jammeh.

The link between Bwaim and Better Future was established in 2005 and has since yielded substantial and tangible benefits for the two institutions and the visit of FC Utrecht was a result of that cordial and last friendship.
