Six Gambian tennis stars head for ITF Tennis Championship Friday

The date has now been confirmed for the International Tennis Federation (ITF)\CAT Championship, slated for 16th-30th July in Dakar, Senegal.

Six players from the Gambia Lawn Tennis Association, namely Buba Jawara, Buba Drammeh, Dawda Kuyateh, Fabakary Drammeh along with two other female stars: Mariatu Jammeh and Lala Sallah are expected to participate in the championship.

The team, headed by Coach Lamin Drammeh will leave Banjul for the championship on Friday, 16th July 2010 for a two-week competition

The championship, according to Drammeh, who spoke to this reporter in an interview on Monday night, is expected to bring together participants from the Western and Central Africa for a two-week competition that comprises a total of 20 countries.

The six players that are selected to represent the country in the highly anticipated tennis championship has since last month begun an intensive preparatory efforts ahead of the Dakar Championship.

The association's participation came at a time when it received invitation from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) on Friday 7th May 2010, Pointsport was reliably informed.
