Six Alleged Impersonators in the Dock

Six men were yesterday 10th August 2009, arraigned before Senior Magistrate B.O Jobe of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court for alleged impersonation as state security agents.

Buba Sarr, Ousman Saidy, Malick Fatty, Bakary Sargo, Foday Ebrima Keita and Bakary Jarju, all pleaded not guilty.

On Count I, the accused persons on 27th July, 2009, at Serrekunda Market and diverse places within the market area, jointly represented themselves to one Babucarr Bah, Muhammed Salieu Sowe and Cherno Barry as state security agents in-charge of controlling prices and in the process unlawfully arrested them, knowing such representation to be false.

According to Count II, the accused persons on the same day and place, jointly by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained from Babucarr Bah, Muhammed Salieu Sowe and Cherno Bah D100 each, being cost of statements obtained from them as state security agents, charged with price control which representation is false.

Count III indicated that Buba Sarr and Ousman Saidy, jointly by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained from one Saidou Bah D100, being cost of statements obtained from him as state security agents, charged with price control, which representation is false.

Cadet Inspector Mballow told the court that he would not oppose granting them bail.

Subsequently, Magistrate B.O.Jobe granted them bail in the sum of D5000. 

The case was adjourned to 18th August 2009 for hearing.
