Like the first division of the Gambia Football Association (GFA), teams in a competition for the top accolade of the country's second tier football league have resumed their quest for the silverware as the second round fixtures of the GFA national league division two fixtures released on Wednesday.

The first game of the second round saw Serrekunda United leapfrog current table toppers the mighty Hawks of Banjul temporarily but only a point separated the two pacesetters.

Hawks were in action at the time of filing this report against second-from-bottom place occupant Lamin United, who could only manage nine points in nine matches.

Should they beat the relegation threatened Lamin side, they will re-claim the top spot with 19 points.

Serrekunda United and Latrikunda United played a pulsating goalless draw at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, a result that saw the Serrekunda outfit climb at the top of the table with 17 points one more than Hawks, who finished the first round at the summit of the league table on 16 points.

As part of Wednesday's matches, Latrikunda United drew 1-1 with Nema United to improve their respective points from 12 and 10 to 14 and 11 points respectively while the game between Starlight and Serrekunda East also ended in a stalemate of one-all draw.

The results mean that Serrekunda East have improved on their number of points from 12 to 13 while Starlight, who continue to root at the bottom of the ten-team league table on five points, have added one more point to their count.

Meanwhile, the week two fixtures will tomorrow see Latrikunda United rub shoulders with Serrekunda East at the West-park, while Tallinding will face Banjul in the other week eleven game at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium the same day.

Serrekunda United and Zygot Seaview will meet at the East Park the same day before another crucial game between Hawks and Nema United the following day at the East Park.

The last game in week eleven will be a clash between the two bottom place occupants Starlight and Nema United when the two sides meet at the Banjul Mini-stadium on Sunday 29 May.
