Seaview wallop Gunjur United in GFA 2nd Division

Gambia Football Association second division league leaders Seaview FC recently defeated Gunjur United 5-0 in the Week 16 fixtures to rejuvenate their lead in the 2011-2012 GFA second division league played at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

The debutant Gunjur United side, who are struggling 8th position on the league table and with 9 points, were hoping to bounce back after losing three consecutive games in a row.

Seaview are currently leading the second division league standings with 28 points unbeaten.

Seaview were the better team in the game and dominated the ball possession creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities.  Their effort yielded dividend when Ousman Marong netted the opener in the 10th minute of the game to give his side the lead.

Jerome Gomez extended Seaview’s lead in the 25th minute of the game before prolific striker Julaba Sawaneh netted a hat-trick in the 55th, 65th and 80th minutes of the game to earn the hotel boys the maximum points.

Elsewhere, Latrikunda United beat Starlight 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on the same day.

Latrikunda United’s only goal of the game was scored by Modou Senghore at the 85th minute of the game.

Starlight finished the game with nine men after Alfusainey Gassama and Sheriff Wally were both shown straight red card in the 22nd and 89th minutes of the game.

Seaview are leading the table with 31 points in thirteen games with two games in hand, while Latrikunda United are 7th position with 10 points in thirteen games with two games in hand.

Gunjur United are 8th position with 9 points in eleven games with four games in hand, while Starlight are struggling 2nd position from bottom with 8 points in thirteen games with two games in hand.
