Sanchaba Sulay Jobe has on 15th May 2010, launched the recently constituted Sanchaba Youth Committee.
The committee is tasked with the responsibility of coordinating all the activities and programmes of the youths of the village, as well as work with the Village Development Committee (VDC).
At the launch of the committee, officials unvailed a very important programme-the rehabilitation of the main Sanchaba Sulay Jobe road.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Bintou Jaiteh, who is also a member of the youth committee challenged her fellow youths to participate fully in the development of the community.
According to him, the primary aim of the committee is to champion developments in the area. She called on the youths to come together and participate in meaningful programmes, as he stated, youths are the backbone of any society.
Mr. Kaliba Senghore, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture tasked the youths to talk less and do more actions.
He proposed to them to institute fund-raising mechanisms by asking members to contribute at least D10 per household so as to sustain their projects.
Mr. Abdou Touray, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance challenged the youths to venture into development programmes. For him, youths drinking green tea (Ataya) is a cause for concern. He stressed that the country cannot develop without the participation of the youths since they constitute the majority.
He finally urged the young people to acquire skills and knowledge to enable them contribute fully in nation-building.
The action plan for the committee was launched by the Director of Youth and Sports, Mr. Malang Jassey, while Alfusainey Gano, the chairperson of the group, who chaired the occasion, reiterated their commitment to national development.
