Mam Demba Jallow, who was speaking to this reporter in CRR during the launching of the GCAV project, also thanked President Yahya Jammeh for appointing him as chief of Sami district.
According to Chief Jallow, the nature of the present road horrible and transferring patients from Karantaba hospital to Bansang hospital remains a concern as the distance is far.
He noted that the most affected people are pregnant women during the time of labour, with referrals from Karantaba hospital to Bansang taking much longer due to the distance and the poor nature of the road.
The intervention of the government in Sami district in road construction would be a welcomed gesture.
Sami Chief also lamented the lack of a market in the area, in a district known for its women vegetable gardens, and that the lack of access to a market is another problem, as well as the need for fencing the gardens.
He expressed sadness for the passing away of his predecessor, the late Alhagie Kasum Liegh, whom he described as a hard-working chief.
Chief Jallow thanked CRR Governor Omar Khan, the paramount chief of The Gambia, Alhagie Demba Sanyang, and his fellow chiefs for their support and advice since his appointment as the new chief of Sami.
He urged the people of Sami to join hands with him to work toward the development of their district and the country in general.
