Sait Matty’s hopes of regaining promotion to the country’s second tier is in limbo, following their 3-2 defeat to Jambajelly United in the 2014 Gambia Football Federation third division triangular qualifiers game played at the Serrekunda West mini stadium on Sunday.

Sait Matty, a household name in Gambian football, has produced some of the most brilliant players for the national team namely, coach Pa Suwareh, Gazem Nyang, Ebou Sillah among others.

However, they were demoted to the third tier after a dismal performance in the second tier last season.

The Bakau outfit came all out for a win against West Coast Regional third division league champions Jambanjelly United, but failed to snatch victory to boost their hopes of regaining promotion to the second tier.

Jambanjelly United, on the other hand, came into the zero point after losing to Blue Star 2-0 and 1-0 to Immigration in their two opening games, but were able to beat Sait Matty to grab their first win in the qualifiers.

Jambanjelly United are now with three points in the qualifiers, with one more game to play against Kanifing Municipality regional third division league champions Marimoo.

Sait Matty are languishing at the bottom and will be plying their trade in the Kanifing Municipality regional third division league 2014-2015 season.

They will be hoping to win their games in order to fancy their chances of qualifying for the GFF third division triangular qualifiers next season.
