ROC donates over D20M to boost education

The government of the Republic of China on Taiwan through its embassy in Banjul yesterday donated US$700,000 (seven hundred thousand US dollars amounting to over 20 million dalasis) to the Gambia government.

The cheque was presented by Taiwanese ambassador Richard Shih to the Secretary General and Head of Civil Service, Dr. Njogu Bah, at his office at State House in Banjul.

The money is meant to support the country's education sector.

Presenting the cheque, ambassador Shih expressed pleasure in doing so on behalf of the government and people of Taiwan.

He described education as very important for the development of any nation.

Dr.Njugo Bah upon receiving the cheque thanked the government of Taiwan through ambassador Shih for the gesture.

He assured him that the money would be used for the intended purpose, and hailed the ROC for continuing to assist the country.

Ambassador Shih was at State House yesterday with 1st secretary Tom Lee to do the presentation.
