Africell FC defeated Banjul United by 4-2 on post-match penalty shootouts after the game ended 0-0 at the Serrekunda East mini-Stadium.
On the same day, Hawks FC beat Serrekunda East by 1-0 at the Serrekunda West mini-Stadium.
Ababacarr Sambou scored the only goal of the game for Hawks FC in the 29th minute from a penalty spot.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Ebou Faye, who deputised for Major Saine who could not attend the game due to other engagements as coach for Banjul United, said the game was well contested despite their being in pre-season training.
The team performed very well, he said, adding that lack of composure in front of the goal led to them not scoring during the game.
Ousman Janneh, head coach of Africell FC, said the game was very competitive. He said he expected the game to be the way it ended because "Banjul United is a young team".
He said they had established themselves in the FA Cup, in which they were doing very well in the past.
This year their target is to be at the centre of the final since their team "has been improving game after game", he says, adding: "This was how he won the second division league."
