A man was on Monday remanded in custody by the Brikama Magistrates' Court for allegedly raping an under age girl.
Berreh Sowe was earlier charged for defilement of an under age girl, but the charge was later ammended to rape, following the prosecuting officer, Sgt 935 Jammeh's application to amend the charge sheet from defilement to rape.
Sowe denied the charge, and was subsequently remanded in custody.
According to the charge sheet, on 16th July 2009 at Ndemban village in the West Coast Region, the accused person, Berreh Sowe, had carnal knowledge of an under age girl.
Magistrate Secka adjourned the case till 14th December 2010.
