Race for automatic promotion to 2nd division set to continue in WC Regional 3rd division

The race for automatic promotion to the Gambia Football Federation second division next season is set to continue in the 2016-2017 West Coast Regional third division this weekend after the observation of The Gambia’s 52nd independence anniversary and inauguration of President Adama Barrow on Saturday at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

As part of week-six fixtures, on Saturday 25 February 2017, Gunjur United will host Tanji United in the all-Kombo South derby fixtures at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field.

Gunjur United are third-place in group A with 4 points in two league games after their stunning 2-0 win over Jambanjelly United in the all-Kombo South derby fixtures before their 1-all draw with debutants Jabang Soccer boys.

The Gunjur-based outfit will stun to thump Tanji United and top group A.

Tanji United are second spot in group A with 5 points in three games following their 2-0 win over Sanyang United before drawing their two previous games.

The Beach boys are bent on defeating Gunjur United to lead group A.

Elsewhere, Jambanjelly United will welcome debutants Tujereng United in the other Kombo South derby encounter at the Jambanjelly Football Field on the same day.

Jambanjelly United are second-place from bottom in group A with zero point in one game after slipping to Gunjur United 2-0 in their opening league match.

The Jam-city boys will strike to shatter Tujereng United to move away from red zone in group A.

Tujereng United are one place above relegation zone in group A with 1 point in two outings after losing to Sifoe United 1-0 in their opening league match before drawing goalless with Tanji United.

The Tujereng-based outfit will battle to rout Tanji United to improve their position in group A.

On Sunday 26 February 2017, Sanyang United will clash with Sanchaba Sulay Jobe Football Academy at the Sanyang Football Field.

Sanyang United are sitting sixth-place in group A with 3 points in two games after their resounding 2-0 win over Universal Football Academy of Lamin before losing to Tanji United 2-0 in the all-Kombo South derby fixtures.

The Sanyang-based outfit will vie to beat Sanchaba Sulay Jobe Football Academy to bounce back after losing to Tanji United 2-0 in their previous fixtures to close gap on group A leaders Sifoe United, who have bagged 6 points in three league matches.

Sanchaba Sulay Jobe Football Academy are fourth-place in group A with 4 points in three games after thumping Universal Football Academy of Lamin 2-0 before their 1-1 draw with Tanji United.

The Academy boys will be hungry to beat Sanyang United and top group A.

Elsewhere, University of The Gambia will rub shoulders with Kombo Kerewan United in group B at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on the same day,

University of The Gambia are seventh-place in group B with 3 points in two league matches after their 2-1 win over Foni Kansala District United.

The country’s highest learning institution will strive to humble Kombo Kerewan United to improve their position in group B.

Kombo Kerewan United are second-place from bottom in group B with zero point in two games after losing their both opening league fixtures.

The Kombo Kerewan-based outfit will fight tooth and nail to beat University of The Gambia to move away from relegation zone in group B.
