QARS holds 7th annual Islamic conference

The Qadiriya Association for the Revival of Sunnah, under the leadership of Sheikh Mohamed Hydara, Saturday held their annual Islamic conference at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi.

The event brought together members from various countries and religious leaders in the country.

The association, which aims at bringing all people under the same umbrella of brotherhood and love for each other, was founded in 2008 by the sheikh.

He feels that many people are deviating from the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammed, but also to teach the Sunnah and the need for brotherhood and love, with members all over the world.

In his keynote address, the president of the association, Sheikh Mohamed Hydara, talked about the problems, adding that there is a lot of fighting one another.

He said recently there are a lot of problems in the Islamic states, with so much killing and violence, adding that Islam is one of the biggest religions but it looks like the smallest.

He added that if peace was to be realized, they must re-check the attitudes, revisit the Quran, and know they are all servants of Allah.

He also talked on the need for leaders of the religion coming together to lift the flag of Islam.

The Sheikh lamented on the way they follow the Sunnah, adding that in following the Sunnah, they must always try to be on the right path and if in doubt leave out and seek clarification.

He urged all to come together and continue to build the peace they are known for, while praying for the restoration of peace all over the world.

The Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Dr Abubakar Senghore, talked about peace and stability bestowed in the country, where tolerance of religion and co-existence of religion exists.

He said the President is one of those who have a lot of concern for the religion, and urged all to pray for the peace in the country to prevail forever.

The guest speaker, Dr Umar.Al –Faruq Abdullah, from Chicago-USA, spoke at length on this year’s theme: “Basic principles of good health in the light of Prophetic Guidance.

The day also witnessed poems and songs of praise for the Prophet Muhammed (SAW).
