Mariama Bayo of Brikama Wellingara recently testified at the Brikama Magistrates' Court as the fourth prosecution witness in the criminal trial of assault, causing actual bodily harm involving one Sarjo Manneh.
Testifying before Magistrate Nkea, PW4, Mariama Bayo told the court that he knew both the accused and the complainant.
She informed the court that the complainant is her mother, and that she could recall on 13th May 2010.
According to Mariama Bayo, on the day in question, she went to town and upon her return she found her mother in bed, while others were standing besides her, as she cried with swollen eyes.
PW4 further informed the court that she then enquired from her mother what had happened to her, and in reply, she said, she was beaten by the accused, Sarjo Manneh.
She told the court that she rushed her mother to the Brikama Health Centre where she was treated.
According to her, she also took the photo of her mother showing swollen eyes.
The pictures were later tendered in court as exhibits.
The case was adjourned to 27th August 2010 for continuation.
