PW2 testifies in assault case

One Alhagie Jaiteh a resident of Jalanba village recently testified in the trial of Yaya Jallow, who was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm, at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Kemo Ceesay.

Jaiteh testified as the second prosecution witness, and told the court that on 17th July 2010 at Jalanba village, he was weeding in his orchard when he saw Cherno Keita chasing a goat.

He said he rushed to the scene, and found that both the complainant and the accused person's clothes were stained with blood, and the complainant was handling a knife.

The witness further added that he then asked the complainant about the knife, and one Yaya Jammeh told him that the knife was confiscated from the accused.

He added that the complainant wanted to take the goat to the alkalo, but the accused person insisted, and there was a push and pull.

It was then he (the witness) told the accused that, "if your animal happened to destroy someone's property, you can go to the alkalo to settle the matter peacefully".

PW2 further stated that while the complainant was taking the goat to the alkalo, the accused ran after him with a stick.
