Profile: Midfielder Baboucarr Saho - rising starlet

Baboucarr Saho is no doubt among the rising starlets of Serrekunda East and is becoming a force to be reckoned with in Gambia football.

The starlet, who plays for second division side Serrekunda United in the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) second division tier, was born in Bakoteh.

Baboucarr, whose parents hailed from North Bank Region, presently resides in Nema Kunku, West Coast Region of The Gambia.

He started playing football on the streets of Bakoteh at a tender age while attending primary school.

His talents and midfield skills attracted New World Football Club who scouted him for the club.

In 2004, Baboucarr won a trophy with is nawetan team in Nema Kunku and was letter spotted by Njogu Demba Football Academy.

The promising starlet continues to impress and was then contracted by Second Division side Nema United for 2 years.

His services were later requested for by Serrekunda United, a second division side, where he is currently playing.

Saho, who is currently taking part in the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Nawetan competition with his community team Medina FC, aims of being a professional footballer representing his country at national and international competitions.

However, Baboucarr Saho is still yet to feature for The Gambia but looking forward to taste his first cap at national level for any category.

He attended Bakoteh Primary School but later transferred to Latrikunda Sabiji Primary School where he completed his primary education.

He then proceeded to SOS Upper Basic School and later to Gambia Senior Secondary School in Banjul.

After completing Senior Secondary School, Baboucarr then enrolled at the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) where he obtained a Certificate in Information Technology.
