The trial of Yorro Sabally, who is alleged of stealing solar panels, proceeded recently at the Brikama Magistrates'Court before Principal Magistrate B. Mahoney.
Testifying, Sgt. 553 Abdoulie Jammeh, told the court that the accused Yorro Sabally is an employee to one Simon Williams, who has his office at Brufut village. He added that the complainant, Simon, is having two solar panels in his compound, adding that the accused removed the solar panel from the complainant's roof without his knowledge. Sgt Jammeh further told the court that the accused after removing the solar panels took it to his sister's residence for safe-keeping.
Sgt. Jammeh further adduced that when the complainant realised that his solar panels were stolen, he reported the matter to Old Yundum Police Station and the accused was subsequently arrested. He said when the accused was interrogated he confessed to the police that he stole the solar and accompanied the police to his sister's residence where he kept the solar panels.
According to him the accused told the police that the money the complainant paid him was too small and also the complainant owed him some money which he didn't pay him.
The case was adjourned to 30th July 2009.
