Police officer testifies in defilement case

Police officer Amadou Bah yesterday testified in the defilement case involving one Jane Jobe before Magistrate Jagne of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

1st Class 3988 Bah told the court he is attached to Kololi Police Station under CID unit, and that he recognised the accused person.

He recalled that on 6 June 2014, he was on duty when an alleged rape case was reported at his station.

He said he left for the scene with one CPL Baldeh where they met the accused together with the victim at home.

Officer Bah explained that they arrested the accused and went with the victim to the police station, adding that the victim was later taken to hospital.

According to him, the following day, the accused was called for interrogation and he voluntarily confessed, adding that he cautioned and charged him in the presence of an independent witness.
