Nuha Jammeh, a CID police officer attached to the Brikama Police Station recently testified in the trial of one Salifu Ganu, who is accused of insulting one Mariama Jatta through SMS text.
Testifying before Principal Magistrate Effim of the Brikama Magistrates' Court, Officer Jammeh told the court that, on 9th December 2009, he was on duty at the Brikama Police Station when he received a complaint lodged by one Mariama Jatta that someone used to call and text her on an Afrcell line by using foul language directed at her parents and herself.
He said upon receiving the complaint he went to Africell Company along Kairaba Avenue to print out the number.
Officer Jammeh further testified that, he printed out three numbers: Adama Keita, Naba Sanneh and Masanneh Drammeh, whom the accused person allegedly used to call. He revealed that those people were then invited to Africell for further investigation and all of them confirmed that it was one Salifu Gano, who used to call them with the said number.
He said the complainant Mariama Jatta also confirmed to them that the accused, Salifu Gano is a relative to her husband.
Subsequently, he added, the accused was arrested and taken to Brikama Police Station, where he was confronted with the complainant and confessed to the allegation.
"I wrote my report and also obtained the statements from both witnesses," he concluded.
