One Kawsu Njie of Mandinaba Village was recently arraigned before Magistrate Effirm of the Brikama Magistrates' Court of assaulting a police officer in due execution of his duties.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused Kawsu Njie on 7th August 2009 at Mandinaba Police Station assaulted a police officer by the name Omar Gassama by knocking him down on a tractor, while in due execution of his duties, and thereby caused him injury.
The accused who pleaded not guilty to the charge was granted a court bail in the sum of D2, 000 with a surety.
In another development, one Omar Camara of Brikama was also arraigned before the Brikama Magistrates Court for stealing from a motor vehicle.
According to the particulars of offence, on 6th March 2010 at Brikama, the accused, Omar Camara stole a wire from a motor vehicle with a registration number BJL 1305 E, valued at D1, 500.
Meanwhile, the accused who pleaded not guilty to the charge was granted a court bail in the sum of D25, 000 with a Gambian surety.
The case was adjourned to 30th March 2010 for hearing.
