Pirang have been crowned champions of the 2013 Kombo East district tournament after their 3-2 triumph over Faraba Kairaba in a tightly contested final played at the Kuloro Football Field on 7 July 2013.
Pirang opened the score through Brikama United prolific striker Yankuba Jarju in 35 seconds after capitalizing on Faraba Kairaba’s defensive blunders to give his side the lead.
Sulayman Joof doubled pirang’s lead in the 20th minute of the game to dash Faraba Kairaba’s hopes of coming back to their feet.
Faraba Kairaba fought hard and pulled back one before second half through Bakau United midfielder Landing Sonko in the 32nd minute of the game.
In the 47th minute of the game Ebrima Sowe levelled the score to make it 2- 2.
Yankuba Jarju grabbed the winner for Pirang in the 69th minute of the game from an astonishing strike to earn Pirang the trophy at the expense of Faraba Kairaba.
As champions, Pirang walked away with the trophy and a cash prize of D13,000, whilst Faraba Kairaba received D10,000 as runners-up.
