The National Sports Council (NSC) has said Bakary Papa Gassama has been a true “Ambassador of The Gambia at the pinnacle of world football.”
This was contained in a press release made available to Pointsports, in which the NSC congratulated the top Gambian and FIFA referee on his most recent achievement of winning the CAF African Referee of the year 2014 Award.
“You have been a true ambassador of The Gambia at the pinnacle of world football,” stated the press release signed by Marcel Mendy the NSC Executive Director.
This it is strongly believe is as a result of Gassama’s commitment, dedication and unreserved quest to dispense justice on the pitch as a referee, the release said, adding that the NSC was not the least surprised at this “indelible achievement.”
It went on to urge Gassama to maintain the same virtues of excellence in his noble profession; to help strengthen the capacity of young and upcoming referees, and assured him of the unalloyed support of the National Sports Council in his endeavours.
“Once more, congratulations. May the Almighty God in his splendor continue to bless us,” concluded the release.
