Oustass Dragged to Court for Attempted Rape

Brikama Magistrate Court before Magistrate Johney Njie for allegedly attempting to rape his wife's sister, a thirteen year old girl (name withheld).

According to the particulars of offence, on or about the 18th March 2008 at his house in Kanilai, the accused was allegedly attempted to rape the thirteen year old girl.

When the charge sheet was read to the accused on the language he claimed to have understand, he vehemently denied the allegation. It was at that juncture that the police prosecutor proceeded with the case into full trial to enable him establish all the facts against the accused.

The case was then adjourned to the 21st August for continuation.

Meanwhile, the accused who was alleged to have absconded from police and later arrested with a bench warrant was refuse court bail pending the outcome of the case.

However, the family of the complainant were of the view to withdraw the case out of court but the Presiding Magistrate insists and said that he will take the matter to the Chief Justice to determine the case.
