The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) will
today join the rest of the globe to commemorate the 66th Olympic Day, which
marks the founding of the modern Olympic Movement (IOC) by Pierre De Coubertin.
In The Gambia, the celebration will be held in the form of a 3 and 5km road race for children from Schools around the greater Banjul area. More than 1000 participants are expected to take part in the celebration.
The event is set to be held at the OlympAfrica Centre at the Serrekunda Mini Stadium at 8:30 a.m.
The day is also regarded as a celebration for youth around the world to observe the Olympic values of fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship.
