Fatou Jobarteh and Kemo Sanneh were recently arraigned before Magistrate Kijera of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for conspiracy to commit felony and stealing.

They denied any wrongdoing.

Prosecutor CPL 2717 Jallow objected to bail for the accused persons on the grounds that the duo “are habitual offenders”, and that they had pending matters in other courts in similar cases where they were granted bail at the police; and they absconded until they committed the present offence.

He said if they were granted bail, they might commit a similar offence.

The court then remanded them in custody, pending the adjournment date of 9 November 2015.

The charge sheet on count one stated that on 9 October 2015, at Ocean Bay Hotel at Cape Point, Bakau, in the Kanifing Municipality, they jointly conspired to commit a felony.

Count two indicated that they stole from the house of one Jane Bohannon the following: I phone 4 valued at 400 pounds sterling, Samsung tablet valued at 150 pounds sterling, an umbrella valued at D198, and two knives valued at D660, all the property of the said Jane Bohannon.
