Balloting for the 2013 edition of the annual inter-departmental football championship has now been rescheduled for next Friday, 26 April at the GRTS building along MDI road at 5pm.
Organised by the National Inter-departmental Sports Association (NISA), the balloting could not hold last Friday due to the late registration of companies.
Sulayman Badgie (Uncle Saul), assistant Public Relations Officer, said the postponement was based on the fact that there are so many unregistered companies and institutions that are interested in joining the championship.
“We have now decided to push it till next Friday in order to give other companies and institutions the chance to register and take part,” he said.
According to him, they are going to make a follow-up on the companies and institutions for them to come forward and register before Friday.
He again used the interview to remind companies and institutions that the registration fee is D7000.
“Companies and institutions that wish to register can still do so before Friday due to limited places or can better contact 9908343, 6767002, 7920277,” he said, adding that the opening of the championship will witness the playing of the Super Cup final between Gambia Armed Forces and Gambia Immigration Department on a day to be decided.
According to him, the defending champions are expected to represent The Gambia in Senegal in a regional Sports Championship with workers from Senegal.
NISA is a body comprising all major establishments in The Gambia with the main objective of organising annual inter-departmental tournament with a view to developing sport and enhancing solidarity among workers.
The motto of the association is to foster personal interaction, discipline, tolerance, and mutual understanding in the working life of all members of the association.
