NBR elects Empretec Family Forum Regional Executive

The Business Development Service Manager of Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) under the auspices of UNDP Empretec project has underscored the agency’s commitment to promoting and enhancing the spirit of entrepreneurship to boost socio-economic development.

Suwaibou Cham declared the commitment of the agency while speaking on Sunday in Kerewan North Bank Region at EMPRECTEC Family Forum.

The forum was held to elect regional executive members of Empretec Family Forum for NBR.

He said promoting entrepreneurship would contribute to poverty reduction and modify behaviours in business growth among small and medium-sized enterprises.

He disclosed that his office had been supporting entrepreneurs to participate in national trade fairs, to enable them to showcase their products and build networks with successful entrepreneurs.

The GIEPA BDS manager tasked the executive to uphold standard and high sense of responsibility in addressing the concerns of entrepreneurs.

He challenged the new executive committee of the NBR chapter to be proactive and committed in strengthening the concept of entrepreneurship to enhance the development of business in the region and beyond.

Momodou B.K. Ceesay, Regional Disaster Management coordinator, was elected as president of Empretec Family Forum in NBR thanks to business development advisers and entrepreneurs in the region for the trust and confidence bestowed on the newly-elected regional executive.

He praised GIEPA and Empretec for the foresight of setting up such a noble team, saying it would cement the cordial relationship between business development advisers and entrepreneurs to foster contribution to the attainment of successful entrepreneurs.

He promised that the committee would support and remain steadfastness in promoting businesses.

The regional executive committee comprises Momodou BK Ceesay of Kerewan, president, Nyimasata Kinteh of Farafeni, vice chairperson, Haruna Kuyateh of Kerewan, secretary, Sulayman Jammeh of Kanuma, financial secretary, and Modou Lamin Marena of Farafeni, public relations officer (PRO).

The body is the first of its kind to be established in the region to accelerate the performance and growth of small businesses.

The committee will serve two terms with effect from January 2016.
