What
was a planned Islamic video shooting outing at sea in the Kombo south costal
settlement of Gunjur, turned deadly when one of the two boats hired to ferry
the group capsized at sea, claiming the lives of 3 with 5 others hospitalised,
the Point has been reliably informed.
The
deceased are: Seedy Gaye, 25, Omar Jagne, 26, and Alieu Gaye, 23.
The
tragedy occurred on Sunday when the group from Banyaka Village, in Kombo South was
out and about to shoot an Islamic music video for television broadcasting.
The
spokesperson of The Gambia Police Force, ASP Lamin Njie, confirmed the
development to The Point, saying the incident occurred on Sunday 13th of
October 2019.
“Preliminary
reports indicated that 3 persons died and 5 others were hospitalized after the
boat carrying 8 individuals capsized.”
The
Police spokesman Njie disclosed that on Sunday 13th October 2019 around
09:00hrs “Daira Nailu Huda” a group from Banyaka village in Kombo South hired
two boats at the Gunjur Beach to shoot a
video at sea.
“As
they board the boat went a distance into the sea one of the boats capsized
resulting to the death of 3 individuals.”
The
Police, he went on, have opened an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile,
Bakary Kah, captain of the boat in question is helping the Police with their
investigations.
