Tanking
Kunda Lower Basic School in Central River Region (CRR) Sami district have recently
tree planting planted 350 different types seedlings in the school
environment.
The
planted trees were brought by the Forestry office in Jarumeh Koto, which
include Lemmon, Mahogany, Baransang and Gmalina.
Regional
forestry officer Ebrima Sanneh emphasized the importance of tree planting in
the school, noting that his department will continue to plant more trees in the
region.
Head
teacher of the school, Jariga Bah thanked the regional forest office and the
people of Tankong Kunda for the exercise, noting that trees will help to
provide shade, food and conducive environment in the school.
The
Jarumeh koto cluster 8 monitor, Alhagi Secka also highlighted the importance of
trees especially in schools, calling on the school management and the community
to take care of the opportunity in Tankong Kunda.
The
school SMC chairman, Essa Danso emphasised the importance of trees within the
environment, saying that even if the people planting them do not get the
benefit, the future generation will.
Mr
Danso gave assurance that the planted trees will be taken care of and advice
people to always take part in such development in schools.
