Gambian forwards Mustapha Jarjue and Ebrihma I. Sawaneh, whose clubs played the season’s first game last weekend commenced with mixed results.

The Belgian Pro League 2013/14 regular season started with a 1-1 draw for Jarjue’s Mons against Cercle Brugge on Saturday, the club’s website has revealed.

Jarju played for 69 minutes and was replaced by Angeli.

Sawaneh’s 75-minute appearance for OH Leuven was not enough to help his side get a season’s opening win.

The Gambia international held one of the highest goal-scoring records last season with 19 goals in his name. They lost 1-0 to Kortrojk.

Last season both players whose clubs managed to secure a spot in the UEFA Europa league qualifiers for teams in Belgium, failed to make it into the play-offs.
